Disney announced a brand new tool that will have a major impact on your Disney vacations. The Disney Genie is out of the bottle! We cover what you need to know in this episode.
What is Disney Genie?
Disney Genie is a suite of in-app services for both Walt Disney World and Disney Land that uses your personal preferences and real-time information to help you create your best day at Disney.
Disney Genie is not a new app. It is part of the MyDisneyExperince Walt Disney World and the Disneyland apps.
The New Service has 3 parts:
- Disney Genie
- Disney Genie+
- Individual Attraction Selections
Disney Genie
This is the complementary part of the service, included with your vacation. You’ll still have these features:
- Walk-up for Table Sevice Dining
- Quick Service mobile ordering
- Reservations (dining and beyond)
- Mobile food ordering
- Virtual queues
Soon you’ll get to enjoy these new features:
- Virtual assistant
- Forecasted wait times and virtual wait times
- Personalized Day optimizer
- Real-time Tip board
Disney Genie +
Genie+ is a paid add-on service. It will cost $15 per ticket per day at Disney world, $20 per ticket per day at Disneyland. You can purchase it on the day of your park visit or as part of a vacation package
Access to bypass standby and virtual queues (first available times), one at a time (like Disneyland Maxpass), across parks. This will include park-hopping.
Walt Disney World Audio experiences are included.
Photopass (Memory Maker) lenses (photo pass is not included)
Disneyland: photopass downloads.
Lightning Lanes
Lightning Lanes are much like FastPasses from Disney World and MaxPasses from Disneyland. You must have a theme park ticket and a park reservation to make a Lightning Lane reservation.
Selections will begin at 7:00 am for quests at select resorts. If you’re not staying at a select Disney World resort, you can make Lightning Lane reservations when the park opens that day or when entering the park at Disneyland.
Unlike FastPasses, you book these on the day of your trip, not months in advance.
Individual Attraction Selections
- Pay for front-of-the-line access to individual rides.
- Can make these selections the day of your park visit
- Up to 2 per day per ticket
- Paid access to most popular rides that don’t have access to Lightning Lanes
- Purchased via in-app purchase.
These will be available in the Fall, but we don’t know the specific dates yet. We don’t know when Individual Attraction Selections will begin or how much they will cost.
